Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel was a fashion designer in the late 1920's who's designs are still around to this day. Ms. Chanel is known as a fashion icon because of her ravishing outfits styled with stunning accessories. One of her notable quotes were, "Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury."
II Personal Information
Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel was born on August 19, 1883 in Saumur, France.
As early as age 6, her mother had sadly passed away. Since her father could not take care of his children, Gabrielle was sent to an orphanage. Catholic monastery of Aubazine was the name of orphanage she was sent to. Reaching the age of 18 is when Ms. Chanel decides to leave.
At the Catholic monastery of Aubazine, Chanel learned the basics about sewing. Little did she know this was going to be the start of a huge success. The rest of the technique was taught by her aunt.
One of her first careers was being a singer in different clubs. This is where they derived her nickname "Coco" from. It is said that it had something to do with the song she sang. Gabrielle began selling hats as a start of her worldwide success. In 1910, she started to open stores in Beauville and Biarritz. After seeing that hats were a great success, she decided to start making clothes. Chanel came up with a perfume called Chanel No. 5. This was named after her. Overall, Chanel was a famous fashion designer.
Sadly on January 10, 1971, Coco Chanel passed away at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, France. She passed away in good terms.
III Accomplishments
Without Chanel ever entering the fashion industry, who knows what kind of fashion there would be today, if there would even be any. This goes to show that she made a worldwide impact. A trendsetter is definitely a word that can be used to describe her. The clothes she designed made fashion what it is today. Gabrielle made clothes that other designers couldn’t compare with her. She had a great sense of style and knew what fashion really was.
As you would already know a fashion designer makes clothes which contributes to the society. Coco made the clothes more available to women to wear everyday. She made clothes that not only looked good but were comfortable to work in as well. People bought the perfume she had made and also she was an icon to girls of how to dress.
IV Qualities that made the person interesting
There are a couple of qualities that made Chanel worth reading about. She stands as a role model for young women who want to work in the fashion industry. Despite her rough and lonely childhood she still came out on top. This goes to show that nothing could get in her way from doing what she liked. People often call this quality determination and passion.

After her death, Gabrielle did not lose her popularity whatsoever. She is still on top as she was before and as she ever will be. The name Chanel is recognized wherever you go amongst old and young girls. Her perfume Chanel No. 5 is still sold in stores after all this time. You can buy Chanel jewelry and they look like 2 C's one facing the other way than its normally written and the other one facing the normal way.

She was a French fashion designer and her taste in clothing and fashion made her an important figure in 20th-century fashion. She was the founder of the famous fashion brand Chanel. Today she is still known for her clothing, perfumes, colognes, and purses!
