Outline: John Thomas Scopes was a teacher in Dayton, Tennessee who was charged with violating Tennessee's Bulter Act, this act prohibted the teaching of evolution in Tennessee's schools.

John T. Scopes was born on August 3rd 1900 and grew up in Paducah Kentucky.
His parents insisted that all the children should read books and philosophy and quizzed them regularly on their readings.
John Scopes attended the University of Kentucky and graduated in 1924.
John's occupations were he served as Rhea County High School's principal, football coach, algebra and phycis teacher.
John Thomas Scopes died on October 21st 1970 in Shreveport, LA.
